Sweet Betrayal

By: ebonymoonblade

You took my Rose.

I know that you weren’t there, weren’t at Canary Wharf. You stayed at the Rift, you have your job, your life, your impromptu family in Cardiff. You would have know what the Cybermen were, you would have known immediately what a threat they posed, what they were capable of, what destruction they wreck –

You took my Rose.

You’re a part of them. If it’s alien, it’s ours; greedy, grasping humans, always have to take, destroy, condense, construct new ways of killing, maiming, betraying –

I thought we made you better.

I know you, thought I did, a friend, someone I can’t loose, can’t get killed, is always there, but I don’t know you, you’re part of them. They’ve done so much harm, even when I tried to stop them, they destroyed even defeated, retreating foes.

I’m seething, whirling, storm clouds gathering, but even then I can’t stop the hurt, the perfidy, Theta in the corner huddled away from the taunts, the loneliness, the rejection, it’s all one more knife in the back – I trusted you, Jack – but I have to focus, rein it in, direct everything at the larger problem, disaster, catastrophe that is the Master. I have to ignore the part of me that cries silent tears and can never finish one sentence because…

… you took my Rose.

"You took my Rose" I love how that keeps repeating. It's just... awwwww! *sniffles* Poor Doctor. Very good first story!

He just would not let go of that sentence. I also loved the line for Jack: I thought we made you better.
